Apple/Meta Veterans Bringing AI to Cancer Detection
Seventy-five percent of all cancer diagnoses are for skin cancer. Yet of the ninety-eight million people who need screening for this disease, fewer than half can get an appointment.
SkinBit aims to help with its whole-body scanner that uses Artificial Intelligence to detect skin cancer in just sixty seconds. This scanner detects cancer with ninety-five-percent accuracy, surpassing traditional dermatology exams (seventy-five percent).
SkinBit is led by a former lead designer from Apple, the Chief of Dermatology at Stanford, and a CEO that founded Deezer, a music-streaming service that went public at a $1.1 billion valuation.
SkinBit has been issued two patents and aims to complete a full pre-production model of its scanner by August 2025.
