Virtuix

Move Around Inside a Video Game

Company Information

Sector:

Virtual Reality

Location:

Austin, TX

Moving around virtual worlds by pushing buttons on a controller is unnatural, static, and limiting. To experience true virtual reality, users need to move around virtual worlds as they do in real life — using their own feet.

That’s why Virtuix created the Omni.

Backed by Mark Cuban and a dozen venture capital firms, the Omni is the first motion platform that lets players walk and run in 360 degrees inside virtual reality games.

The Omni was featured in Steven Spielberg’s action movie “Ready Player One,” and is protected by fourteen patents, which cover mechanical design, motion tracking, and game integration.

Virtuix has created the Omni Pro, the commercial version of the Omni, as well as the Omni Arena, a multiplayer configuration. The company has already sold more than eighteen million dollars’ worth of products to entertainment venues like Dave & Buster’s, an arcade-themed restaurant.

Most recently, Virtuix released Omni One, a consumer version for use at home.
